Bag Check — A Path to Finding the Perfect Bag

Burton Snowboards is know for making snowboards, but Burton actually has extensive and high quality line of bags & luggage. In 2011, the web team set out to make an impactful tool that could help users find the perfect bag. It was highly marketed and also successfully used at kiosks in the flagship stores. Here's a look at the path we took to make the tool.

We started by listing out the main Bag Categories.

Then we created a user flow within each category.

Once we had the user path dialed, we created wireframes so that the development team could get started on the prototype.

Then, once all the planning was finished, we set out on creating a colorful and fun design based off vintage Swiss airline posters. The Bag Check tool was well-received in the stores as well online. It brought some much needed attention Burton's bag collection.
