Burton.com — Standardizing the Banner System

Historically, Burton.com gets a full face-lift every year to align with the new product line and consumer catalog. However in 2015, the focus switched from doing a soup-to-nuts redesign to creating a significantly larger amount of marketing and promotional banners.

The internal design team at Burton is pretty small so I developed and standardized a system in which we could build an enormous amount of banners in a timely manner.

Below is just a small glimpse of the batch of thousands of banners we produced we for 2015/16 Winter Season.

I documented every banner use case, image asset details, character counts, and file naming structure in a 22 page document shared internally within the marketing, content, and e-commerce teams.

Using the new generate assets and artboard features in Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud, our team designed & documented a simple template to build each banner set.
